It seems Democrats have a new bright idea for Iraq
Key senators are drafting legislation that would revoke the broad authority granted to the president in 2002 and replace it with a narrower mandate....
Democratic aides have said the proposal could restrict US troops in Iraq to fighting al-Qaeda, training Iraqi forces and protecting Iraq's borders.
Congress will now mandate that US troops be supplied with "al Qaida detectors" so they can distinquish al Qaida operatives from other people who might be shooting at them in Iraq. And what, pray tell, if a soldier loses or breaks his al Qaida detector and shoots the wrong person?
Besides, how do we even know if the al Qaida detector will work?
I say we try it out on Congress first.
"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the al-Qaida strategy," the vice president told ABC News. "The al-Qaida strategy is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."
Maybe the al Qaida detector will tell us what is really motivating the Speaker and her mentally deficient bulldog.
