I hereby strip the Left the label "Liberal". I, in my small voice, dub the term Conservative Left to refer to the vocal "Progressive" and neo-Marxist wing of the left. I do this because they have taken positions that have traditionally been associated with "Conservatives". They are Isolationist and protectionist. And they have suddenly become Foreign Policy "Realists". Since when did such positions become Liberal? They are not. And when they lose an election, they blame all the stupid people who vote for the wrong people. This indicates more than anything else that they no longer believe in Democracy; in political freedom. Against scientific evidence to the contrary, they insist that a ruling elite of atheistic intellectuals is preferable to the chaotic mob of independant voters. If this isn't the roots of Stalinism, I don't know what is. And the idea that democracy is unworkable hails back to the time before the American experiment, and is thus "Conservative" in nature. It certainly is not "Progressive" and is not Liberal. Even their environmental positions becon us back to a time before Humans darkened the Earth. Worse, they believe in the most insidious form of dualism where somehow humans are not part of nature, but apart from nature while all the while criticising Christians for their particular brand of dualism. But Christian dualism espouses service where environmental dualism's ultimate wet dream would exorcise humans completely. So I strip the left of the label Liberal. I in my small voice invoke the word they hate most "Conservative" because this is what they truly are.
Evidence that the Conservative Left eschews Democracy comes from many sources. I have already mentioned how they blame their losses in national and local elections on "hicks and rednecks" and fools who are easily lead by fear and propaganda. How can you possibly believe in Democracy if you believe that humans are, in general, so stupid? The fact is you can't though they will never come out and say that what is needed is elimination of Democracy and the installation of the right thinking Philosopher King. But it is implied in everything they do. Take for exmaple their reaction to President Bush's Inaugural Address where the idea American championing and promoting political freedom is met with distain and scepticism instead of being embraced as any true Liberal would do. Was it only 40 years ago that such a speech had been hailed by Liberals when President Kennedy uttered similar ambitions. How much has changed. But it is no surprise when a group that supports leaders like Milosevic and North Korea's Kim Jong Il are defended as is China's attack on Democracy at Tiananmen Square, international ANSWER, has become the prominent voice of the Conservative Left.
The anti-Democratic soul of the Conservative Left is also revealed in the response to the situation in Iraq. I do not dismiss that there were legitimate arguments to made against going to war in Iraq. But the decision was made Democratically in the proscribed way. The country's representatives in Congress made the decision to go which means we collectively made that decision. To actively work against this decision and undermine its success is anti-Democratic plain and simple. The Conservative Left (in this case acting to "conserve" the status quo by leaving a brutal dictator in charge of an explotive and fascist regime) went to Iraq as human shields against a US invasion but give no thought now of being human shields protecting polling places and people who want to vote against anti-Democratic killers. I suppose one could interpret this as cowardice, but it is consistent with the anti-Democratic theory as well. As it becomes increasingly clear that the most brutal tactics of the anti-Democratic Islamists are not going to succeed, the anti-Democratic Conservative Left is preemptively calling the elections in Iraq a lost cause, illegitimate, and more. Here, now, there is a chance to support Democracy in a Country where formerly the only rule of law was the whim of a psychotic organized crime boss and they just can not see it in their hearts to do everything they can to help make it work. What makes a man is not defined by what is said but by what they do. It is similarly true of political organizations.
It is clear that the anti-Democratic Islamists in Iraq are allied with those who have declared war on America more than three years ago. It is also clear that cancelling or delaying the elections would be a victory for that enemy. So why does the Conservative Left work so hard to aid and abet America's enemy? I suggest that if you are anti-Democratic you are also anti-American. Not the physical location, but the ideal. The foundation of America is Democracy and if you are opposed to Democracy in fact, if not in rhetoric, then you are opposed to America. The more the Democrat Party aligns itself with anti-Democratic contingents, the more they will been seen as enemy sympathisers. The more they will be rejected by the electorate. Until the day comes that America and the ideals that Democracy and political and economic freedom are what humans deserve are overcome by the forces of political conservatism and crystallization.
Almost one month after the deadly tsunami devastated the coastlines in Southeast Asia, the UN has come up with a plan for disaster relief. Congratulations, it's martini time.
Islamists in Iraq free 8 Chinese hostages. I wonder why?
Jack Straw will be visiting the President soon. My guess is Bush will ask him why it is he supports lifting an arms embargo with China. The answer should be interesting.
Did US soldiers in Iraq feel coerced by Senator Kerry? Matt has the scoop.
A Danish Abu Gharib? How is it possible?
A pizza deliverywoman is held up and asked for a date by her attacker. She prompty delivers his phone number to the police.
A school decides to allow students to "manage their own learning" by doing away with homework. Haven't we been here before? And wasn't it a disaster?
Sometimes, outsourceing to India doesn't work out. Like when a company discovers that the workers they hired have Indian accents.
