In response to the McCain campaign's tying Senator Obama to former domestic terrorist William Ayers, the Obama Campaign is attempting to make a stink about Senator McCain's involvement in the Keating Five incident that involved the failure of a number of S&Ls in 1989.
Unfortunately, although history continues to call it the Keating Five, it was really, at most, the Keating three.
Senator Alan Cranston, Democrat from California was the only one who received a formal reprimand for interfering with the investigation by the FHLBB
Senators Dennis DeConcini (AZ), and Donald Riegle (MI) both Democrats were formally criticized for acting improperly by interfering with the investigation by the FHLBB.
Senator John Glenn (D-OH) and McCain were cleared of all wrong-doing.
Based on the evidence available to it, the committee has given consideration to Senator McCain's actions on behalf of Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. The committee concludes that Senator McCain's actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him. The committee finds that Senator McCain took no further action after the April 9, 1987, meeting when he learned of the criminal referral.
Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate; therefore, the committee concludes that no further action is warranted with respect to Senator McCain on the matters investigated during the preliminary inquiry.
Ayers, on the other hand, in combination with Obama's relationship with Reverend Wright and the Liberation Theology of the Trinity Baptist Church is much more disturbing.
In a neo-Stalist kinda way.
And Obama's connection with William Ayers is something the Senator has been trying to keep quiet for so long.
But now, it seems, the chickens are coming home to roost.
