UN Peacekeepers are at it again, standing by while the people they are supposed to be protecting get killed. This time in Sudan
African Union soldiers were only a few hundred yards away when Sudanese government troops swept through this small town, firing their weapons from pickups. Four villagers were killed
Then again, if they actually fired their weapons and killed somebody, it wouldn't be peacekeeping, now would it?
Because the AU soldiers — "peacekeepers" deployed to protect civilians — did nothing to prevent the killing, the surviving villagers ran for the nearby African Union base, where the soldiers had no choice but to protect them.
Well damn. I guess the peacekeepers aren't so keen on keeping the peace when it's their own lives on the line.
So long as the UN peacekeepers aren't threatened, just about anything is possible.
