Well I've decided to stop whining about the fact that I can find no news reports that count the number of dead due to Islamo-fascist terrorist attacks and just do it myself.
So in addition to being the blog that routinely recounts the good stuff our military forces are doing to help the people of Iraq and Afghanistan, I'll also be the blog that keeps the unofficial running count of innocents killed by Islamo-fascists.
By my count, up until the incident in Beslan, Russia there were 748 people killed by Islamicists in 2004. (you can find my backup data in the extended section of this post)
By the most recent count I have, 340 people were killed in Beslan.
Add to this the 8 dead in Indonesia today (and that number may climb as there were 160 injured) the gand total so far this year is 1,096 in this year alone! And that adds up to 23,091 people since 1998 when you include the data supplied by the State Department I summarized here
What's more; I don't think I have counted everyone. So if you have an incident I haven't included, please let me know and I will update this number. I will also update this number as new attacks occur.
Maybe some news outlet will find this number here and run it as a headline everytime a terrorist incident occurs.

# January 14: 4 Israelis were killed at Erez crossing after a suicide bomber exploded herself in a checkpoint to the industrial zone of Erez. The Hamas and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed joint responsibility.
# February 22: 8 Israelis are killed and 60 wounded in a suicide bombing of a city bus in Jerusalem, occurring one day before the start of hearings at the International Court of Justice regarding the Israeli West Bank barrier. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility.
# February 27: An Israeli couple (parents of a 2-year old girl) were shot dead in their car on their way home, in the northern Negev. After firing at the car from a distance, causing the driver to lose control of it, the shooters approached the car and shot the couple at point-blank range. Altogether, over 40 bullets were used. Yasser Arafat's Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack.[6]

# March 14: Two Palestinian suicide bombers kill 10 and wound 12 in the Israeli port of Ashdod. Hamas and Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claim joint responsibility.
# March 19: An Israeli man is shot dead from a passing vehicle while jogging in the French Hill neighborhood of Jerusalem. Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claim the attack, and later apologize when it becomes known that the victim was an Arab.
# April 3: Yaakov Zagha, a 40 year father of six, is shot dead outside his house after Chana, his 14 year old daughter was wounded by a Palestinian from nearby Tul Karem. The shooter was later killed by IDF forces. Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.
# April 24: Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claim responsiblity for the murder of an Arab, a suspected informant in the village of Beit Rima, in the Ramallah district.
# May 2: Tali Hatuel, a 34-year-old Israeli woman, eight months pregnant, and her four daughters: Hila (11), Hadar (9), Roni (7) and Meirav (2), were shot to death in the Gaza Strip, near the Kissufim checkpoint. # June 27: Staff-Sergeant Ro'i Nissim, 20, from Rishon L'Tzion, was killed and 5 others were injured when an underground tunnel laden with more than 1000 kg of explosives detonated under IDF outpost of the "Urhan" junction near Gush Katif in the Gaza Strip. Hamas and al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility.
# June 28: 4-year-old child Afik Zahavi and Mordehai Yosefof, 49, were murdered in Sderot by a Palestinian Qassam rocket that hit a kindergarten, the first fatal Qassam attack. The boy's mother,Ruthie Zahavi, 28, was critcally wounded. Hamas claimed responsibility.
# June 29: Moshe Yohai, 63, from Ashdod, an Israeli truck driver was murdered by shootings near Ramallah. The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility.
# July 4: Victor Kreiderman, 49, was murdered and his wife, Emma, wounded in a shooting attack between Mevo Dotan and Shaked. The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility. The terrorist fled to the nearby Arab village of Yabed.
# July 11: A remote-control bomb murdered one Ma'ayan Naim, 19 years old, and wounded 34, in a bus station in Har-Zion Boulevard in Tel Aviv. Yasser Arafat's al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claim responsibility. Israeli prime-minister Ariel Sharon said that: "Today's fatality [in the Tel Aviv bombing] was the first act of murder perpetrated under the protective wing of the Hague ruling". [14]

# August 11: Two people were killed and sixteen were wounded when an explosive device was detonated by Palestinian terrorists inside an Arab taxi as the taxi attempted to cross the Qalandia checkpoint just north of Jerusalem. Two Palestinians were killed, and about 20 people, a majority of them Arabs, were wounded. The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades faction of Fatah claimed responsbility and expresses regret that Arabs were among the dead and wounded.
# August 13: Shlomo Miller, 50 years old and father of seven children, was killed by gunshots and another person wounded in an ambush near Itamar. The murderer was killed by Israeli security forces and was identified an officer in Yasser Arafat's Preventative Security Force. Fatah claimed responsibility.
# 2004 109 Kurds are killed in 2 suicide bombings in Arbil, Iraq.
# 2004 Bomb on Moscow subway kills 41.
# 2004 Suicide bombings at Shia holy sites in Iraq kill 181 and wound more than 500.
# An attack of an Istanbul restaurant on March 9, 2004 killed one, and injured five. Two militant Islamic
fundamentalists, one calling himself Abdullah Islam, entered a restaurant frequented by freemasons in the Kartal district of Istanbul holding automatic weapons and strapped with 10 homemade pipe bombs on their flak jackets.
# 2004 Bombing of Spanish commuter trains kills 191 people and injures more than 1,400.
# On 21 April 2004, a series of large bomb explosions ripped through Basra, Iraq. Initial casualty estimates put the dead at 68 with hundreds injured. In reality, 74 people died.
